In this article we run through setting up a live connection to data.world from Snowflake Partner Connect. This connection is used as part of our Enterprise Data Catalog.
- An ACCOUNTADMIN role on Snowflake - Partner Connect is limited to account administrators who have a verified email address in Snowflake. To use Partner Connect, you must switch to the ACCOUNTADMIN role or contact someone in your organization who has the role.
- Allow IP addresses - If you have network policies in place which specify allowed IP addresses, then add data.world to your list of allowed IP addresses. The IP addresses to allow are noted on this documentation page.
Set up Connection
Snowflake Partner Connect will automatically create a direct connection from Snowflake to data.world. You can also manually configure a connection from within data.world. See this article for details. Contact our demo support team at firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to inquire about alternative methods of connecting such as an SSH tunnel or bridged connection approach.
To begin, navigate to your Snowflake console with your favorite web browser, click the Partner Connect tab, and then click the data.world tile:
You will prompted to accept the automatically generated user, database, compute warehouse, and role for the Partner Connect configuration. This is standard for all Partner Connect applications. Click Connect:
Once your account has been created, it needs to be activated. Click Activate to go to data.world to finish setting up your account there. Enter your email and full name, and choose a username and password:
On data.world your account will be linked (you will need to complete registration by clicking the link sent to your email address), and you can create your first dataset:
If you need to manage your Snowflake connection go to your Snowflake integration page on data.world and select Manage:
